Oh, Man Repeller, this is my ode to you. My style now feels incomplete without an arm party. I’ve mixed my great-grandmother’s vintage pieces along with my own high-end and lower-end bracelets for a juxtaposed, but complete look. Can you tell which pieces are vintage, and which pieces are my own?

ARTIST SESSION: ELECTRIC SUN

Meet Vlad Holiday, a musician based out of New Jersey. As an ex-member in the well-known band Jet Lag Gemini, Vlad is well-known for his long guitar solos, unique style, easygoing personality …and not to mention, wild hair. However, Vlad is heading to the center stage in his new band Electric Sun, who’s debut single hits the web today. Straying apart from his JLG past, Vlad brings outstanding vocals and much more to ES, along with the rest of his new bandmates. Skinny Dip gives you the first look on Vlad’s inspiration, views and hopes for his new band.

SD: You’ve been in the successful rock band Jet Lag Gemini. How did you get started in the music business?

VH: I started as I believe everyone should: a young and passionate kid studying the hell out of their instrument day by day. All the glitz and glamour can come later, because if you try to bring that on too soon, you’ll end up a mediocre musician without any plans.

SD: How would you explain your vision for your new band Electric Sun?

VH: The vision for Electric Sun is immense. I think that word best describes the ultimate goal - sonically, visually, and artistically.

SD: What inspired you the most to start forming the band Electric Sun?

VH: My biggest inspiration is the creation process. It’s such a sense of relief to materialize a feeling or emotion into a song, and getting to do this is doing wonders for my mental stability. To quote Leonardo di Vinci… art is never finished, only abandoned. That moment of abandonment is such a thrillingly scary and adventurous point. All those questions and ideas just have to be put down in an instant… it’s so mysterious to me.

SD: For the tons of people wondering, what’s the future of JLG?

VH: As far as Jet Lag Gemini goes - Misha, Matt, Dan and I are still great friends. In the end, we took some different routes professionally, and everyone is already seeing success in the path they’ve chosen. The immense amount of secrecy around Jet Lag’s hiatus was based on the fact that JLG’s future is as unclear to us as it is to the public.

SD: How is your role in Electric Sun different than it was in Jet Lag Gemini?

VH: Electric Sun is a project that I started completely on my own, which is vastly different than the co-founded and co-written history of JLG. And though I will always be the core foundation of Electric Sun, I’ve managed to collect a band of truly amazing people and musicians to work with, which has already started influencing the artistic process.

SD: Have you ever Skinny Dipped?

VH: A gentleman never tells.

SD: Who are your favorite musicians, and why?

VH: My favorite musicians are the artists that love music and are loved back by it. It’s a rare thing to come across.

SD: Are you inspired by any other artists, people, places, etc ?

VH: Inspiration is a funny word for me, because I can get inspired by the intangible visions in my mind or the shapes of a construction site. I can take inspiration from anything and everything. But what drives me the most is optimism and incomprehensible goals I set for myself.

SD: I’d say you have a pretty eccentric and unique style. What inspires you when you’re getting dressed?

VH: The way I dress is a reflection of my music. I do it for myself and it’s just another way of expressing feelings or ideas.

SD: What are you looking forward to in the future?

VH: Getting Electric Sun out there and translating the visions in my head into reality.

Style Inspiration of the Day: Rome, Italy

I visited Italy a few weeks ago …and I miss it every day. The beauty of the culture continues to inspire me all of the time. Piazza Navona in Rome is the home of some of my favorite Italian shops. Each shop has a different kind of whimsicality to it; you can find unique pieces of art on display while scoring an awesome new wardrobe at the same time. Here are some of the photos that I took in the shops:

I just got back from Turks & Caicos with my family, so I thought I’d share some pictures from my trip:

I want to keep this blue hair braid forever.

Bonsoir mes amis! I finally landed in Paris today & got upgraded to a 2 story suite! Too tired to do anything except for cuddle up in a robe with some Pierre Herme macaroons, and I’m so excited to do just that.
