To Be Young And Dumb And In Love

This look is the perfect amount of quirky and sweet for Valentine’s Day. I kept it classic, instead of overloading on reds and pinks. I embellished the blouse’s collar myself, learn how to DIY here.

Love is in the details:

Blouse: DIY hand-studded and hand-pearled, Skirt: American Apparel, Sweater Tights: Hue, Shoes: Bass by Rachel Antonoff, Rings: Vintage & Verameat

Baby, you’ve got me ten feet off the ground. XO

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Everybody Needs Some… YSL

Guns N Roses T-Shirt, Rebecca Minkoff Blazer, J Brand Jeans, YSL Cabas Chyc Large Handbag, Michele Watch, Madewell Boots

I decided to switch up the weekly style post, y’all…meet my best friend Patty! This look exemplifies an easy way to update your old “band tee-and-jeans” outfit. The structured blazer and handbag add an instant chic feel to this relaxed look, while still keeping it young and casual. When dealing with bright colors, avoid looking too flashy by keeping the accessories simple, as she does here with one simple ring and oversized watch.

Urban Warrior

J.Crew Silk Blouse, Gypsy Warrior Necklace, 7 For All Mankind The Skinny Jeans, Fendi Vintage Handbag, Frye Billy Short Boots, Mixed Bracelets, Vintage Silver Ring

I recently went through a wardrobe crisis where I decided to get rid of mostly every patterned or colorful article of clothing in my closet. I only kept neutrals and earth tones. Besides the fact that all of my friends have called me crazy - (I blame it on OCD…obsessive closet disorder) - I feel like my new wardrobe palette is a better reflection of who I am, and much easier to layer. However, when a local boutique listed this colorful and fabulous turquoise and red bib necklace, I had to have it. I love the idea of any simple outfit paired with fun accessories. This silk navy blue blouse is the perfect backdrop to this statement necklace.

I’m a big fan of mixing black and brown, which a lot of people tend to shy away from. When done right, it can be a perfect way to add depth to a look. I styled this ensemble with my grandmother’s vintage Fendi purse, which picks up the brown in my Frye cowboy boots. Worn here as an oversized clutch, the Fendi bag is actually an oversized tote. After spending years folded in half in my grandmother’s closet, it has a crease down the middle. So I just worked with it, and realized that turning it into a oversized clutch adds versatility and uniqueness, when branded designs usually tend to look a bit overdone.

Laid-Back Luxury

Madewell Oversized Silk Blouse, J.Crew Silk Blouse, Anthropologie Blazer, Free People Spinning Diamond Shawl, CarMar Beeswax Jeggings, Zara Studded Pumps, Handbag, Vintage Ring

The color and cropped cut of thisblazer feels more laid-back than most blazers I own. I decided to play with the rugged-feel by pairing it with two feminine, silky blouses. The oversized, patterned blouse peeking out from the sheer apricot silk blouse provides just the right amount of visual interest. I wanted the layered tops to speak for themselves, completing this look sans any statement jewelry. The black shawl, being worn as a scarf, anchors the eye in to the center of the chest area and breaks up the rusty color of the brown blazer.

Jeggings tend to recieve a lot of trash-talk, but these Car Mar Beeswax Jeggings knock any pair of ordinary jeans out of the ballpark. Seriously…girls, nothing beats this brand. Every pair of Car Mar pants that I have tried on have been well-structured, comfortable…and made in the beautiful USA! Plus, the leather-like sheen from the beeswax on these pants are incredible. Get yourself down to an LF Store and purchase a pair…or two…

Monday Will Leave You Black & Blue

Today I needed an easy outfit to run some errands. The only time I wear flats is when I have to do a lot of running around. The Reva flat is not my favorite shoe, but they’re practical. — (I would have really liked to pair wedges with this outfit instead) — The Theory blouse works well underneath the sweater because it is short-sleeved, so it doesn’t add any more bulk. Lastly, I paired the two layered tops with an American Apparel faux-silk skirt because I like how the fabric picks up the silk blouse, layered under the chunky sweater.

Theory Button-Up Blouse, People Boutique Sweater, Vintage Necklace, American Apparel Skirt, People Boutique Belt, Hue Knee-High Sweater Socks, Tory Burch Flats, Mixed Vintage & Modern Bracelets

Casual Sunday Outfit // Anthropologie White T-Shirt, J.Crew Chambray Shirt, Forever 21 Bodycon Skirt:, H&M Belt, Sheer Tights, Frye Jane Tall Cuff Boots, Mixed Jewelry.

I guess the consistency of my makeup-palatte speaks for itself… I have a love affair with Laura Mercier products. I understand that their products are a little pricey, and although I believe that it’s completely worth it… I recommend making a free appointment with your local Laura Mercier makeup artist before purchasing any products, to see what works best for you!

One new product I’d like to try in 2012 is Laura Mercier’s Luxe Eye Portfolio. I’m not one to wear a lot of eye makeup, but I want to start experimenting with eyeshadow in the new year.
